Spam is inevitable as long as you have an email address. You never know who might share your email address or you could be the one ignorantly bringing the spam into your inbox. Spam messages are very annoying. They continuously
flood your inbox everyday with commercial and advertising messages you don't want promising better health, offering free products, providing tips on how to get rich quickly, informing you that you've won in a lottery, etc. But what do you do to reduce the rate at which you reduce hundreds of these spam messages coming to your inbox everyday? Just try out these simple tips and could go a long way in helping to reduce them.
Never give out your personal email address on the internet. You can create a new account if you would like to sign up for various articles or items on the internet.
If you use hotmail, make sure spam filter is enabled. To activate,Go to options>more options>filters and reporting under 'junk email' section. Here, you can set the level of spam blocking.
If it is your personal email involved, you can download spam blocking software to help you filter out the irrelevant messages. The list is one of the best i could get on the internet for you.
Never reply to the spam emails nor click any links within them. Do not also click 'unsubscribe',as it just aggreviates your problems because it informs the spammers that it is a valid email.
If you are building a free website on a free web host, refrain from putting your email address in
plain text on your site. Disguise your email address by omitting
out periods and the "@" symbol. For example, instead of writing abc@yahoo.com, write it as "abc
at yahoo dot com". This tricks online website crawling
programs trying to steal your email address and selling it to spammers.
Use an internet browser with built-in security system such as Mozilla Firefox that prevents malicious codes from being
installed in your computer without your knowledge. This
malicious codes do keyword logging and send email address,
passwords, and even bank IDs to the programmer who came up with the code. This not only
threatens your security, it also
increases the spam coming in to your email account as your
information is being sold to outside parties.
Read Terms and Agreements carefully before signing up for
anything that requires your email address. Do not sign up if you
feel uncomfortable about the privacy policy.
